PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - The Garut Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) together with the TNI and Polri carried out control over street vendors (PKL) in urban areas, Thursday (14/3/2024).

Head of the Garut Regency Satpol PP, Usep Basuki Eko, said that this control was carried out following the findings from the previous patrol.

From these findings, several traders installed paratags or semi-permanent buildings in locations that were previously prohibited, namely from Jalan Ahmad Yani at the BNI intersection to Jalan Ahmad Yani at the intersection with Pasar Baru.

"In locations where it is prohibited to install paratags, namely from Jalan Ahmad Yani at the BNI intersection to Jalan Ahmad Yani at the intersection with Pasar Baru," said Eko.

According to Eko, the street vendors who previously only stuck to a shop, that night they forcibly put up paratags. This is considered to be a nuisance to road users so it must be curbed.

A total of 50 stalls including sales wheels around Jalan Pramuka were also controlled due to many complaints from the local community, especially regarding the storage of sales wheels in front of people's houses from day to night.

"After we appealed last night to dismantle it ourselves but we didn't heed it, in the end we carried out the control. As for those who were controlled, it was around 50 stalls, including the wheels on Jalan Pramuka," said Eko.

Apart from controlling street vendors, Satpol PP also patrols restaurants that open before 3 pm, in accordance with the Public Compliance Notice issued by the Garut Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

Not only that, Satpol PP also carried out outreach and controlled drug stores, minimarkets and pharmacies that openly displayed contraceptives in their shop windows, in accordance with the edict which stated that this was not permitted during the month of Ramadan.

"And in the evening we carry out control and supervision of night entertainment venues, which also states that night entertainment venues are prohibited from operating during the month of Ramadan," he said.

This activity involved 2 platoons of personnel from the Regency Satpol PP, 1 platoon from the National Police, and 1 squad from the TNI. (Diskominfo Garut/Revo)
