PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. BOGOR - Acting The Regent of Bogor, Asmawa Tosepu welcomed the management of the Indonesian Association for Disabled Persons (PPDI) Bogor Regency to receive aspirations and input from people with disabilities in Bogor Regency. Asmawa revealed the importance of a commitment to equality and equal rights to services for people with disabilities.

The Chairman of PPDI Bogor Regency and other management were received in the Deputy Regent's Meeting Room, Regional Secretariat, Cibinong, Wednesday (10/1/2024). Present to accompany Pj. Bogor Regent, Head of the Social Service, Head of the Health Service, Head of the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Population Control and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB), Secretary of the National Unity and Political Agency (Bakesbangpol), and representatives of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Development Agency (Bappedalitbang) .

The Regent of Bogor, Asmawa Tosepu, revealed that Law Number 8 of 2016 concerning Compassionate People with Disabilities mandates that both central and regional governments must respect, protect and give rights to people with disabilities. Our presence today is in order to carry out the mandate of this law.

"So the most important thing is a shared commitment regarding equality and equal rights so that there is no discrimination in services, especially for people with disabilities," he said.

Asmawa explained that the Bogor Regency Regional Government (Pemdakab) has long had a commitment to respect, protect, protect and serve people with disabilities. Many things have been implemented, one of which is the inclusive school program, where this program is carried out on an ongoing basis.

"Then the most important thing is how the Bogor District Government provides adequate services for people with disabilities, such as social rehabilitation, empowerment, protection, social security and others," he said.

Asmawa added, in order to face the democratic party in the near future, she hopes that people with disabilities can exercise their constitutional rights because there is equality. The presence, role and participation of persons with disabilities in this democratic party is important.

"I ask that the PPDI Management can convey to all its members in Bogor Regency to work together to make the democratic party a success, because it is very important for the continuity of national and state life, as well as giving birth to national leaders who can make Indonesia even better," he said.

Chairman of Bogor Regency PPDI, Erfandi, appreciated the Bogor District Government for its fast and good response so that we could stay in touch and have an audience with the Acting. Regent of Bogor. According to him, so far the regional government's support for people with disabilities has been good, it's just a matter of how to further accelerate Law Number 8 of 2016.

"We want to increase acceleration in the implementation of Law No. 8 of 2016 concerning disabilities in Bogor Regency, where the main issues faced are related to employment, health, infrastructure, education, and empowerment of MSMEs," he said.

He continued, he wants a Disability Services Unit (ULD) to be established immediately, then the Bogor District Government is encouraging data collection for people with disabilities in Bogor Regency so that the data is more valid.
