PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to coordinate with regional officials and community groups in RW 01—09 Sekejati Subdistrict regarding the Margahayu Raya Retention Pool which is still under maintenance.

This retention pond was designed as infrastructure in an effort to reduce potential flooding in the Margahayu Raya and Ciwastra areas. This was conveyed by the Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono when inspecting the Margahayu Raya Retention Pool area, Monday (29/1/2024).

"We have communicated with officials in sub-districts and sub-districts, as well as with community groups. Physically, this retention pond has actually been completed. All that remains is maintenance," he said.

From the infrastructure aspect, this will be managed by DSDABM (Water Resources and Highways Service). However, for daily management, we will ask sub-district, sub-district officials, groups and the DSDABM community to communicate. "The meeting point already exists, it just remains to be detailed later," he said.

Bambang also said that various operational support aspects of the Margahayu Retention Pool are in the process of being perfected.

These various aspects include lighting (lamps) and security support tools. The reason is, this retention pond is also designed as a public space used by the community to gather or children to play. Apart from that, there is an area that is used as a culinary location.

"So it doesn't only function as parking. It is also a public space for the community. The benefits from all aspects must be maximized. Therefore, we will continue to coordinate, and we are optimistic that this retention pond can be inaugurated in the not too distant future," he said.

The Margahayu Raya Retention Pool is located on Jalan Jupiter Barat, Sekejati Village in the Margahayu Raya Complex area. Later there will be 6 pools with a total volume of around 2,339 cubic meters.

Apart from that, in this area there will also be an amphitheater, open space, and will also be a place to exercise, especially for residents around the retention pond. (rdp*)
