PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - West Java Provincial Government won 2nd Place in the 2023 Subroto Award in the Category of Energy Saving in Government Agencies, Sub-Category of Regional Government Buildings, for the West Java Province Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Service Secretariat Building.
The award was held by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia in Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday (30/10/2023).
Head of the West Java ESDM Service, Ai Saadiyah Dwidaningsih, said that one of the successes of the West Java ESDM Service Secretariat Building in winning this award was the use of PLTS Roof as a source of electrical energy.
"The West Java ESDM Service Secretariat Building implements energy conservation and efficiency through the use of Rooftop PLTS as a source of electrical energy in buildings, which not only has an impact on reducing energy consumption, but also on efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," said Ai Saadiyah in Bandung, Thursday (2/11/2023).
According to Ai Saadiyah, the use of PLTS Rooftops in the West Java ESDM Service Secretariat Building is in accordance with the Circular Letter of the Governor of West Java to all Heads of Regional Apparatus, namely SE No. 67/RT.03.03/ PEREK dated 10 May 2022 concerning Development of the Utilization of Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS), and contributes to energy savings in buildings of 40.27 GJoules.
"The implementation of energy conservation and efficiency is also carried out through passive design energy efficiency techniques, such as the use of green open space and the use of ventilation for air circulation, as well as active design energy efficiency through the use of electronic equipment, such as air conditioning with a 4 star energy saving label (SKEM) and the use of PJUTS
(Solar Powered Public Street Lighting)," he said.
Ai Saadiyah added that the implementation criteria for implementing energy conservation and efficiency in buildings have also been regulated within the building scope of the Regional Government of West Java Province through the issuance of a Circular Letter from the Governor of West Java to the Regent/Mayor and all Heads of Regional Apparatus (SE No. 60/PI.16.03/PEREK dated 10 July 2023) concerning the Energy Saving Movement.
"Hopefully in the future we can implement energy efficient buildings within the West Java Provincial Government more massively as a mandate from the General Regional Energy Plan (RUED) within the framework of the Energy Transition," he said.
The Subroto Award for Energy Efficiency (PSBE) is the highest award given by the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders who have implemented energy conservation and efficiency efforts.
One of the objectives of implementing the PSBE is to provide appreciation for the successful implementation of energy conservation and efficiency, especially for implementation in the building sector (public/commercial) and the industrial sector.
Energy conservation and efficiency is one form of effort or implementation that is relevant to the energy transition issue. Energy conservation efforts are important to reduce the intensity of energy use, considering that energy resources are limited and must continue to be maintained for future needs.
Meanwhile, energy efficiency is applied in the context of utilizing energy sources and technology that are not only environmentally friendly, but also more effective than more conventional energy sources and technology. The implementation of both has generally been regulated, especially for Provincial Governments since the enactment of Government Regulation Number 33 of 2023 concerning Energy Conservation.
