PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin visited the funeral home of former Governor of West Java Lieutenant General (Ret.) Solihin Gautama Purwanegara or familiarly known as Solihin GP on Jalan Cisitu Indah, Dago, Bandung City, Tuesday (5/3/2024 ).

The late Solihin GP passed away at the age of 97 years at the Adventist Hospital, Bandung City, Tuesday (5/3) early morning, at 03.09 WIB.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun, I, on behalf of the West Java Provincial Government and the people of West Java, express my deep condolences for the passing of Mang Ihin. I pray that the deceased dies in husnulkhatimah and that all his deeds are accepted and that he finds a noble place in the sight of Allah subhanahu wa taala," said Bey at the funeral home.

Solihin GP was Governor of West Java for the 1970-1975 period. He also served as a member of the MPR in 1998.

"He was the Governor of West Java for the period 1970-1975, although it has been a long time, but we still remember his services as governor and I think we all know that the deceased was a great figure in West Java and a national figure. Many were lost by the passing of Mr. Solihin GP, Bey said.

Bey said that Solihin GP was a statesman, a figure who always thought about the progress of the nation even in his old age.

"President Jokowi and I once met Pak Solihin, and at that time the deceased entrusted him with the revitalization of the Citarum watershed. Even though he was old, he still thought about the interests of the nation and state," he said.

Bey revealed that at that time the late Solihin GP asked that the revitalization of Citarum be replicated in many places in West Java.

"So that means his firmness in leading, his example is an example for us in leading. We really miss him," said Bey.

Solihin GP is known as a West Java elder, environmental fighter and founder of the Sunda Tatar Forestry and Environmental Observer Council (DPKLTS).

It is planned that Solihin GP's body will be taken to the extended family's house on Jalan Cisitu Indah, Dago, Bandung, at 07.00 - 09.00.

Then the body of the deceased will be taken to Mako II Kodam III Siliwangi on Jalan Sumbawa, Bandung City, around 09.30 to 12.30, then buried at the Cikutra Heroes' Cemetery, Bandung, at 13.30.
