Bey Determined to End Annual Flood Cycle in Cirebon

PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. CIREBON - Acting (Acting) Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin visited the location of the flood disaster in Cirebon Regency, Thursday ( 7/3/2024 ). Reviews are carried out to ensure treatment is running optimally.
During the inspection, Bey visited residents' houses and public facilities affected by the flood. After that, he paid his respects to the house of the victim who died due to the flood.

Bey stated that the technical plan for river normalization together with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the BBWS Water Resources Management Agency was complete.

"With this action, we are determined to end the flood cycle that haunts this region every year, as well as giving people the opportunity to live and carry out normal activities without fear of the threat of flooding," said Bey.

The flood disaster submerged ten sub-districts in East Cirebon, Cirebon Regency, after high intensity rain occurred on Tuesday ( 5/3/2024 ).

Based on data from the Cirebon Regency Social Service, the floods caused by the overflow of the Ciputih, Ciberes, Pekik and Cisanggarung rivers resulted in around 33,000 houses being submerged, 40,075 families/83,000 people more affected by the floods, and around 4,200 people being displaced.

As an effort to deal with the flood disaster, the West Java Provincial Social Service has distributed assistance in the form of food and clothing worth Rp. 101,690,850,- sourced from the West Java Provincial APBD.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs has encouraged assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food, ready-to-eat side dishes, children's food, clothing, mattresses, kidsware, family kits, blankets, tarpaulins and tents which were sent directly from the Ministry of Social's central warehouse worth IDR 1,401,208,000, -.

Apart from logistical support, a field public kitchen post has been established at the UPTD PAPRJJ Wil office. III District. Cirebon which is managed by Tagana Kab. Cirebon and Tagana District. Subang, and assisted by social pillars such as PKH and TKSK Facilitators from affected sub-districts. This Public Kitchen is supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.

Then, the West Java Province BPBD Logistics Team also brought logistical assistance in the form of basic food packages and drinking water which were handed over to the Cirebon Regency BPBD.
